Dr. Donna Hedgepeth, DC, DACCP

I graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to attend Duke University for a graduate certificate program in Medical Technology. After school, I worked in the hematology/oncology labs at UNC Hospitals and then began working with Glaxo-Wellcome in their research department. It was then that my path changed because of an experience with a local chiropractor.

I had suffered from migraine headaches since elementary school. I had tried many avenues for relief, including jaw surgery without success and then at the referral of my medical doctor, I went to see a local chiropractor. The chiropractic treatments were a wonderful success! This experience made me further investigate and ultimately pursue a career helping others through chiropractic.

Despite the frigid mid-west winter temperatures and having to shovel snow each morning, I chose to attend the first chiropractic school, Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. While achieving my doctorate, I spent extra time learning a variety of techniques in addition by attending seminars outside the normal program to widen my knowledge and experience. I was chosen as one of only 40 students at Palmer to travel to Nepal on a health care mission. We spent almost 3 weeks in many villages delivering point of care services to the great people there along with a few medical doctors, 1 nurse and an epidemiologist. As a group, we adjusted thousands of people and brought love and attention to a population that mostly had no access to care at all. It was an amazing experience!

After graduating as valedictorian of my class, I chose to come back home to North Carolina to practice in a much warmer climate and to be near family. I was fortunate to be able to practice initially out of another office and then started my own independent practice in 2005. I still have a passion for knowledge and strive to deliver the best care possible to my patients. I hold additional certifications in NIMMO myofascial release techniques, acupuncture, and craniosacral therapy.

I am also a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association with a specialty ranking as a Diplomate for working with children and pregnant women, including the Webster Technique. As a mother, this side of my practice is very near and dear to my heart. I enjoy an expanding referral relationship with several area OB/GYN’s, Family Practitioners, Midwives, Pediatricians, lactation consultants, doulas and various other healthcare professionals. I am honored and humbled to be chosen by so many to deliver care for mothers and their children during such crucial stages of their lives.

When I’m not busy being “Dr. Hedgepeth”, I value spending time with my husband and our children. We try to take time enjoying the little things in life while still finding time to walk the dog, visit our families and cheer for my alma maters, The Wolfpack and The Blue Devils - sorry Carolina fans!

Dr. Katie Lucht DC, CACCP

I grew up in the cheesehead state of Wisconsin but relocated to North Carolina so I could be closer to friends after graduating from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

During my undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, I studied animal science with an emphasis on equine business management and veterinary technology and later became a licensed large animal veterinary technician. Routine chiropractic care enabled me to remain pain free and function at my best, as the job of a vet tech regularly places you in positions that don't allow you to protect your back.

While I greatly enjoyed working with animals I just didn’t feel satisfied or fulfilled and desired to continue my education. After experiencing first hand the benefits that chiropractic has to offer, from when I fell off a horse during a jumping lesson and while I worked as a vet tech, I decided to become a chiropractor and help others in the same way.

I felt especially drawn to work with children in chiropractic, which was fueled by my love for working with the 'littles' as a volunteer in the Awana program at my church. This lead me to become Webster certified, a technique that is especially beneficial during pregnancy. As well as pursue my post-graduate studies in pediatrics through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), allowing me to join a very small group of chiropractors in the state specializing in the care of women and children.

My goal is help each person express their full life potential starting with care at preconception. I use a salutogenic approach to chiropractic; focusing on health and wellbeing rather than pain or dis-ease. I hold true to the Latin meaning of the word ‘doctor’ which is ‘to teach’. Our bodies are intelligently, fearfully, and wonderfully made, and as such, we each hold the capability for our bodies to heal itself.

I focus on pediatric, pregnancy, and family wellness care utilizing Diversified, Thompson, Activator and Webster techniques.

When not in the office I enjoy working on DIY projects around the house including anything from furniture to Christmas ornaments or spending time outside riding my horse Ellie. Christmas is my favorite holiday, so yes I puts up a tree before November!

I am also the proud aunt of two beautiful nephews Cason and Samuel.

Heather Huffine, CCA

My chiropractic journey, both as a patient and a professional, began in February of 2000. I have always been a strong believer in the body’s ability to heal itself and I quickly realized that this was the profession for me! I wanted to know as much about chiropractic as possible, so in addition to terrific on the job training, I also decided to become more “formerly” educated. After completing both Basic and Advanced Chiropractic Assistant Certification Programs, I continued on to obtain my Chiropractic X-Ray Certification as well.

I was introduced to Dr. Hedgepeth in 2001 and maintained contact over the next 5 years. Fortunately, I was able to join her practice in November of 2006, and I couldn’t be happier. It is such a pleasure to be here and I love what I do! Because of Dr. Hedgepeth’s diplomate in pregnancy and pediatric care we see a lot of expecting mothers and children in our office. I continue to be amazed by the profound effect chiropractic has on the lives of our patients, and it’s an honor to be even a small part of that process.

Outside of the office, I strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle while juggling the everyday demands of being a working Mom. My husband and I welcomed our boys into the world in the summer of 2008 and 2011, and they have kept us busy ever since! We can often be found outdoors exploring, taking and sharing pictures for the grandparents, and at the hockey game - GO CANES!

Sushi the Siamese Fighting Fish

Sushi is a favorite part of our team and is an integral part of the office. He has positioned himself near the front entrance so he can easily greet everyone as they enter and bid “adieu” on the way out. He enjoys mealtime, saying hello, and hide-n-seek, but finds the most joy entertaining the children each day!
